PTW invites young scientists to take part in the competition for the best conference paper submitted for the Carbon 2026 global conference, which will be held in Charleston (USA) on 12-17.07.2026 (https://carbon2026.org//). The authors of the works should meet the following conditions:

• Membership in PTW (membership fees paid on an ongoing basis);
• Age up to 35;
• Presentation qualified as 'oral presentation'.

The participation in the Carbon conference can be financed only once.

Procedure:

• The author submits an abstract of his/her speech with the choice of "oral presentation". Deadline for submission - 19.12.2025.
• After the Scientific Committee of Carbon 2026 has qualified the abbreviated abstract of the presentation as 'oral', the author submits an application to PTW by e-mail to the following address: gaudi@umk.pl by March 23, 2026.
• The PCS Scientific Committee considers applications until March 26, 2026
• PCS, after a positive evaluation, covers the conference fee of the author of the selected paper by bank transfer.

Dates may change due to e.g. extension of the deadline for submitting short abstracts. Any information about changes will be communicated to you immediately.

Applications are assessed by the Scientific Committee of the PCS according to the following criteria:

• originality and importance of the issues raised(0-5);
• correct formulation of the research objective(0-5);
• potential impact on carbon science or engineering of carbon materials (0-5);
• the author's scientific achievements to date (0-5).

We encourage the authors of the best papers to present their work prepared for Carbon 2026 at The 12th Carbon Symposium. Date: June 23-26, 2026 Venue: Student Culture Center "Mrowisko," Gliwice (carbonsymposium.pl/).

This point does not affect the decision regarding the funding of the conference fee, but it gives the presenter a chance to test their skills before a more intimate audience and gather constructive feedback prior to the presentation at Carbon 2026.

Please note: Should the awardee's participation in the Carbon 2026 conference not be possible for financial reasons (travel and accommodation costs), the conference fee may be used—following a decision by the PTW (Polish Carbon Society)—to cover participation in another related scientific conference on carbon topics.
